100% Career Journey Disbanded After 9 Years of Debut

The shocking news came from the 100% boy band that was announced to be disbanding. This was conveyed by their agency, TOP Media.

“Because the member’s 100% exclusive contract with TOP Media expires on October 9, 2021, we are having discussions,” they said in an official statement quoted by Soompi, Friday (9/24/2021).

“After in-depth discussions with the members, we have decided to end our activities with them,” he continued.

Let’s take a look at their 9-year career journey until they decided to disband as follows:

1. Debuted In 2012

The 100% members debuted on September 18, 2018 with the release of a single album titled We, 100%. The album consists of four tracks including an instrumental version of the title track Bad Boy.

All the songs in the album were written and produced by the famous producer, Super Changddai who has produced songs for the groups Ladies Code, 2PM, and Apink. They performed the song Bad Boy for the first time on Music Bank.

2. Ever Appeared With Teen Top

Before making their official debut, they had appeared on Teen Top’s variety show titled Teen Top Rising 100%. Fyi, Teen Top is a 100% senior and is under the same agency.

A month after their debut, the two groups returned to the same program called Teen Top & 100% Rising Brothers.

3. Formation of Sub-Units

In November 2013, TOP Media announced that 100% would form a sub-unit called 100% V consisting of Rockhyun, Jonghwan, Hyukjin, and Chanyong. This sub-unit released an album consisting of 3 songs including the title track, Missing You.

4. Two members are on hiatus

After two years of debut, Minwoo and Sanghoon decided to take a temporary hiatus from 100% activities. Minwoo went on hiatus due to his mandatory military service which started on February 4, 2014.

Meanwhile, Sanghoon took a personal leave because he had to settle things related to his future. The rest of the members also made a comeback by releasing a second mini album titled Bang the Bush.

5. Changbum left 100%

TOP Media announced that Changbum officially left the group after a long discussion. The five remaining members also made a comeback in October while releasing their third game Time Leap and MV Better Day on October 1, 2016.

6. Start Promotions in Japan

The following year, 100% developed a career in Japan and debuted with the release of the single How to Cry in January 2017. The group also released a mini album titled Sketchbook in February and the second single Warrior in June. They last promoted in Japan with the release of their fifth single titled 28℃.

7. Minwoo Dies

In 2018, sad news came from one of the 100% members, Minwoo who was reported to have died from a heart attack at his home. A month after Minwoo’s death, the agency announced that 100% would continue their career and the mini-tour that had been announced before the 100% leader’s death.

8. Officially Disbanded

Before officially disbanding, 100% had time to greet fans by releasing their fifth mini album entitled RE:tro on March 14, 2019. After that, the four members decided to undergo military service in the second half of 2019.

On September 23, TOP Media announced that the members’ contracts were 100% expired and would be disbanded. Prior to the announcement, the members had done a 100% live broadcast of the 9th Anniversary Together 9 on Naver V LIVE. /hot.detik.com
