South Korean veteran actor, Lee Byung Hun admitted that he had been discriminated against during his career in Hollywood. Suddenly, the claim became the talk of many people. Moreover, he successfully starred in the popular Korean drama Squid Game.

Lee Byung Hun is a native South Korean actor who debuted in the entertainment world through Asphalt My Hometown in 1991. Now, having starred in many dramas, Byung Hun had starred in Hollywood films like G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Red 2, to Terminator Genisys throughout his career.

His roles in these western films also received a lot of attention and praise from the audience, to the point that Byung Hun had time to enliven the Hollywood Walk of Fame with his palm prints. However, behind all that, Byung Hun admitted that he often experienced unpleasant incidents on the set.

Reported by Koreaboo, Wednesday (10/13/2021), Byung Hun shared that he was often ignored by his co-workers when introducing himself. In fact, some actors were reluctant to shake hands with him before filming was over.

“I’m not just sad, I feel like crying because I’m so angry,” he said.

Even though he feels sad, Byung Hun admits that he can’t do anything anymore when dealing with all that discrimination.

As a foreign actor who doesn’t speak English, Byung Hun gradually felt that he had to be immune and get used to all of it.

Fortunately, all the discrimination experienced seemed to fade slowly after he starred in Squid Game.

Now, Byung Hun also feels there is a certain pride to be able to join a project that has in fact succeeded in penetrating the worldwide market, even America.

“Everywhere I go, everyone talks about the Squid Game. Recently I went to America and they were also talking about the same thing. Previously Parasite managed to show the ability of South Korean cinema, and now Squid Game. My heart is happy to know that Asian filmmakers can be proud of their work abroad,” he said. /celebrities.id
