Super Junior’s Eunhyuk Becomes the First K-Pop Idol to Debut as a Musical Director
In recent years, Super Junior’s Eunhyuk has begun to develop his abilities as a music concert director. Through his competent expertise in this field, Eunhyuk has successfully directed several music concerts during his career as an idol with Super Junior.
Among them, starting from Super Junior’s world tour concerts titled ‘Super Show 7’ and ‘Super Show 7S’ which started in 2017, The Chinese group TFBOYS’s 6th anniversary celebration concert in 2019, ‘Super Show 8’ which started in 2019 until Super Junior’s online concert ‘Beyond The Super Show’ on May 31, 2020.
Based on his expertise and experience in directing concerts, for the first time Eunhyuk has the opportunity to participate as a director in a broadway musical titled ‘Altar Boys’ which is planned to be staged in mid-December 2021.
This is in line with the official announcement made by Shinswave as the company that will produce the musical ‘Altar Boys’ this morning (17/11/21) through the official Twitter account @shinswave. Later in the musical production process, Eunhyuk will collaborate and collaborate on his creative ideas with Eunyong Lee and Kim Myung-Seok, as well as music director Kim Joong-Woo and Baek Gu-Young’s choreographer, Lee Soo Bin.
In addition to a successful career as a musician and idol for a dozen years, Super Junior’s Eunhyuk was lined up to be the first K-Pop idol to direct a broadway musical in Korea. Reporting from Newsen, Eunhyuk expressed his thoughts on the musical, “During this time, I have been directing concerts, and I have had a good opportunity to broaden the scope by directing this show. I am usually interested in musicals and I have dreams of directing various shows in the future, but I hope I have more opportunities to produce Broadway musicals.”
Shin Jung Hwa as CEO of Shinswave also shared, “I think Eunhyuk, who has proven his talent by directing several Super Junior concerts, is suitable to portray the concert musical “Altar Boys” in a more subtle and realistic way. We hope that K-pop artists and K-pop musicals can create synergy through this work.”
The musical ‘Altar Boys’ is a concert musical that tells the story of five boys forming a dance vocal group to spread love through song and dance and save the lives of the audience.
To date, there are several K-Pop idol members such as Super Junior’s Yesung, 2PM’s Chansung, Highlight’s Son Dongwoon and INFINITE’s Jang Dongwoo who have officially participated in the musical ‘Altar Boys’. Later this musical will be implemented as a blockbuster class concert based on high script and music and will be held in a concert hall, not in a theater performance building. (www.kpopchart.net)
