Study: IJN & 9 Other M’sian Specialist Hospitals Rank Among the Top 100 Best in Asia-Pacific!
Did you know that Malaysia is one of the top medical tourism destinations in Asia?
A testament to the top-notch healthcare services that are available in our country, we previously shared why Malaysia is one of the go-to destinations for Indonesians who seek medical treatment, approximately 1 million people each year!
Recently, our nation’s excellence in the healthcare industry was further recognised internationally after 10 of our hospitals were named in Newsweek’s list of Best Specialised Hospitals Asia Pacific 2023 for cardiology.
Made in conjunction with Statista, the study recognises the leading hospitals in the Asia-Pacific region, which is the fastest-growing area in the world for healthcare investment and much of that focuses on specialised care.
For cardiology, the Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) or National Heart Institute is the highest Malaysian specialist hospital in the top 100 list, placing 30th.
The next Malaysian specialist hospital on the list is Melaka’s Mahkota Medical Centre at 45th, followed by Kuching’s Hospital Umum Sarawak or Sarawak General Hospital at 48th.
Here are the other Malaysian specialist hospitals on Newsweek’s list and their respective rankings:
- Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur (58th)
- Gleneagles Medical Centre Penang (64th)
- Sunway Medical Centre Petaling Jaya (65th)
- Island Hospital Georgetown (68th)
- Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur (88th)
- Pantai Hospital Ampang (90th)
- ParkCity Medical Centre (93rd)
Newsweek’s rankings are primarily based on a survey of over 8,000 medical professionals from the designated Asia-Pacific countries, carried online from February to March 2023. The survey asked participants to recommend hospitals in their own field of expertise as well as a secondary medical field.
Awesome! So, what do you guys make of the achievements of our country’s specialist hospitals that made it to the top 100 rankings in Asia-Pacific for cardiology? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
