The Strokes Announces Second Show in Singapore to Accommodate Malaysian Fans

Following the cancellation of Good Vibes Festival 2023 on July 22 (Saturday), Day 3 headliner, legendary rock band The Strokes, had just arrived in Kuala Lumpur and were disappointed to hear the news that they were not going to be able to perform their set.

The band’s lead singer Julian Casablancas and guitarist Nick Valensi were both seen on social media apologising to their fans for the terrible situation and Julian even shared that they were trying to make something happen. Well, they’ve done their best.

Julian (@minorbutmajor) took to his Instagram account to announce that The Strokes have added a second day to their Singapore show to try and accommodate their Malaysian fans.

He wrote, “Malaysia, thanks for your patience. Okay, we know it’s not the ideal (or even possible) for everyone, so forgive (and we tried KL first, but they are not ready for a concert in Malaysia yet, understandably) but the best we could do with such short notice to try and make it possible for die-hard fans to have some chance to come to our concert – and as our Singapore show (which is relatively close) is sold out.”

“The Strokes will be adding a second Singapore show to try and accommodate folks in Malaysia the best we could. I hope this mildly eases some of the disappointment for some, and hope to see as many of you as possible there. (I know it’s not the shortest trip either but if it makes anyone feel better, I’ll be driving 8 hours tomorrow back and forth for Fuji Rock Festival haha.).”

On top of that, they’ve decided to try and offer discounts on merchandise for Malaysians during their second Singapore show.

“And at least maybe scalpers will be less ruthless? Also, couldn’t do it with the tickets but we think with the merchandise (which we control), for people traveling from KL, we’re going to offer mega-discounts (with proof of residence/travel) to try and maybe offset or alleviate a bit of the cost of travel?”

“Sorry, we tried! (and it took a lot of pushing). Okay. Official announcements and details coming momentarily. Terima Kasih,” he added. We swear, this man is the world’s brightest gem.

The Strokes’ second show in Singapore will be held on August 3 (Thursday) at 8pm, at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands.

Tickets are priced at S$148 (RM506) and $188 (RM643), and go on sale today at 4pm here.

Thank you, The Strokes, for trying your absolute best to accommodate your Malaysian fans!
