Melaka Set to Build The Largest Open-Concept Safari Park in M’sia
If you’re a fan of safari-concept parks, then we’ve got good news for you as the Melaka State Government yesterday (5 August) announced that the largest open-concept safari park in our country will be built in the state.
As reported by BERNAMA, Melaka State Senior Housing, Local Government, Drainage, Climate Change and Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Rais Yasin asserted that the state government has received several proposal papers from interested parties.
Furthermore, Rais said that the safari park would be as fascinating or comparable with other parks of its kind in foreign countries such as Thailand and Indonesia.
Accordingly, the State Government through the Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council (MPHTJ) and Melaka Zoo will work with the Department of Wildlife Protection and National Parks of Peninsular Malaysia (Perhilitan) and private parties who are interested in the project to ensure its success.
As for its location, Rais said that it would be developed either in Ayer Keroh Botanical Gardens or in the Melaka Zoo itself. For the latter, there is still an area of almost 12 hectares in the zoo that can be developed into a safari park.
Rais further elaborated that since the project is still in the selection phase for a proposal, he will try to ensure that the development of the safari park can at least take off next year. The cost will be announced later too.
