Slavic Woman Shares How KL Feels Like a Foreign Country Thanks to Influx of Tourists

Most foreigners come to our country to experience how it feels to be live in our climate, environment and culture, eat our local cuisine and walk among Malaysians.

But what if a foreigner comes to Malaysia, only to feel like they are still in their own country?

A Slavic woman, @elvirademchaa, took to her TikTok account to showcase countless tourists in Kuala Lumpur, making the scene at the country’s capital look to be in a foreign country.

She wrote, “I’m sorry, but for the past 6 years of living in Malaysia, I’ve never seen so many tourists… says me.”

In the video, multiple Caucasian tourists could be seen walking along a crosswalk in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

Among the crowd of tourists, one Malay man could be seen in a Baju Melayu and Songkok, reminding us that we’re still in Malaysia.

“Am I even in Malaysia?” Elvira added.

Netizens took to her post to share their opinions, with many agreeing that there are currently an influx of tourists and sharing their experiences of being the only Malaysian at local spots.

“Yes, correct. My area in Bukit Ceylon has become like Europe in the summer. Suddenly, I am the only Malay person there.”

“Is this Malaysia or New York?”

Considering the fact that these tourists are helping boost our economy with their tourism, we say, “welcome!”
