In his first trial, Jung Ilhoon was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 133 million won (approximately Rp. 1.62 billion) for violating the Law on Narcotics Control, etc.

On December 16, Jung Ilhoon headed to the Seoul High Court for the marijuana case. In this trial, the judge sentenced the former BTOB personnel to drug cases.

Jung Ilhoon was tried on suspicion of buying and smoking 826 grams (approximately 1.8 pounds) of marijuana using approximately 130 million won (approximately Rp. 1.58 billion) in 161 cases between July 5, 2016 and January 9, 2019 along with seven other defendants.

In his first trial, Jung Ilhoon was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 133 million won (approximately Rp. 1.62 billion) for violating the Law on Narcotics Control, etc. and detained. However, both Jung Ilhoon and the prosecution appealed the sentence.

During the appeal trial, the prosecutor requested a sentence of two years in prison and a fine of 126.6 million won (approximately Rp. 1.54 billion) for marijuana charges. The court sentenced Jung Il Hoon to two years in prison suspended for three years of probation, 40 hours of drug treatment, and an additional fine of 120 million won (approximately Rp. 1.46 million).

The court stated, “In Jung Ilhoon’s case, he smoked, bought, and sold (marijuana) for a long period of time. However, we consider that he voluntarily stopped buying and smoking marijuana around January 2019, that he has no criminal record, that he tried to prevent recidivism by receiving psychiatric treatment and taking online lectures on drug addiction, and that his family showed a willingness to mentor him because he had relatively well-maintained social ties.”

Meanwhile, Jung Ilhoon officially left BTOB after being arrested for a drug case. The boy group that debuted in 2012 is now continuing activities with 6 members. (wk/goddess)
