Man Buys A 6.91 KG First Harvest Durian Grown In China During Auction For RM247,000
Durians are something that often times divide people into 2 groups, it’s either you love them or you hate them.
Our country used to be one of the few nations in South East Asia that produces durians for export and it seems that there is a new competitor in the market and you guessed it right, it’s China.
The Chinese have been planting durians in the city of Sanya ever since 4 years ago and they have finally harvested their first batch of durians.
To commemorate the event, they auctioned out the first harvest fruits and a clip of the auction had gone viral on TikTok.

In that clip, a 6.91 kg durian was auctioned with a starting price of 888 RMB. The price went up to 100,000 RMB very quickly and rose even more to 300,000 RMB.
At this stage, even the host was taken aback by the money that people are willing to spend on that durian and thanked the bidders.
The final bid for that durian was 388,888 RMB. As there doesn’t seem to be anyone who could top that, the host called it thrice and struck the gavel on the deal.
Other bidders and members of the audience then cheered for the man who bought the massive durian with a hefty price tag.
That’s certainly a lot to spend on a fruit that you consume. Now, we wonder what durians grown in China taste like.
